The holiday season is approaching, and The Academy is gearing up for an in-person Holiday Celebration for the first time in several years. Jon-Michael Hernandez, Director of Alumni Relations, delves into what makes this “joyous homecoming” event so special for The Actors Society.
Hosting an in-person Holiday Celebration for Past Students began in 2018, steadily evolving over the following years. When the pandemic struck in 2020, the event was forced into the digital sphere. With the help of a dedicated team of staff members and student workers, the event seamlessly transitioned online. While these events were successful, and maintained a strong sense of the pomp and circumstance of an in-person gather, something palpable was missing.
The holiday season has traditionally been a time of gathering with loved ones, and returning to a physical space has been on everyone’s minds for the past three years. The decision to return in person reflects The Academy’s commitment to fostering a sense of community, a fundamental aspect of being a member of The Actors Society.
For this year’s celebration, attendees can anticipate an evening of camaraderie, paired with cocktails, hors d’ouvres, and an array of sweets. The event will feature a video retrospective of the past three years of online celebrations, with musical performances and a touch of festive charm. A special unveiling of the graduation frames of the Classes of 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 can be expected.
For those with any apprehensions about gathering in person, guests can be assured that precautions will be in place, including proper ventilation. Attendees may also wear a mask if they feel more comfortable doing so.
Invitations will go out directly to all members of The Actors Society. For additional information and to RSVP, contact Jon-Michael Hernandez at jmhernandez@aada.edu.
