Academy Alumni Power York’s New Musical

The York Theatre Company is gearing up for opening night of This Is Not a Drill, a new musical exploring the importance of community and compassion. Bringing the show to life are several Academy alumni: Joseph Hayward (‘13), Producing Artistic Director; Ellie Peterson (‘24), Production Assistant; Yudelka Heyer (‘10), Props; and intern Emily Rosen (‘24).

For Rosen, the experience has been nothing short of transformative. “The show provides me with hope,” she shared, calling it a “lifeline.” When asked about her favorite part of the job, she emphasized the joy of “being in proximity and connection with vibrant souls.”

With This Is Not a Drill, York Theatre Company continues its tradition of innovative storytelling, while Academy alumni carry their artistry and passion into every detail of the production.
