Academy alumnus Keito Okamoto (Class of 2020) stars in an English-language remake of the incredible thriller French film “Mon Garcon,” now titled “My Son.”
“My Son” follows a father, played by James McAvoy, as he looks for his missing son in the town that his ex-wife, played by Claire Foy, resides and desperately looks for answers.
What sets this film apart from normal thrillers is Mr. McAvoy was not given a script. He only knew basic parts of his character’s background and some parts of the story but had to improvise each moment as it happened. Everyone else in the cast and crew knew what would happen, but genuine reactions were given by Mr. McAvoy.
Keito Okamoto, besides being an actor, is a singer for the J-Pop group “Hey! Say! JUMP!” His success as a singer propelled him to continue studying the arts as he decided to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. He plans on returning to the stage alongside his other bandmates, but currently is working on becoming an actor.
In an interview he stated:
“I will study hard in order to show everyone my growth. I will definitely return to Hey! Say! JUMP.”
You can watch him in “My Son” on Peacock starting September 15th, 2021.
